Pr. Catherine RONIN-VAÏSSE
Chief Executive Officer & Founder
Catherine RONIN-VAÏSSE holds a PhD in Biochemistry and has been Professor of Glycobiology and Biotechnology for the University of Aix-Marseille and a member of the Polytech Bioengineering School for 25 years. Her work on the subcellular localization of glycosyltransferases was awarded by the French Carbohydrate Society in 1983 for her contribution to the discovery of the dolichol pathway and also to the first development of glycosyltransferase assays. She then joined NIH (Bethesda, MD, USA) and the Endocrinology Department (NIADDK) where she could demonstrate that glycosylation of pituitary glycoprotein hormones is altered under pathophysiological situation. She could demonstrate that glycosylation is protein- and cell-specific and her contribution to the emerging field of Glycobiology gained national recognition when she was elected President of the French Glycoscience Society in 1996. Catherine RONIN-VAÏSSE has also been a guest scientist at NIH and Vice Chair and Chair of Innovative Training Networks at the European Research Agency for the past 10 years. At SiaMed’Xpress, she coordinates R&D projects and partnering.
